If you run a shop on your own, a lot of your contact with Sinan happens while your hands are full. You're packing an order, standing at the counter or walking home, and you'd rather listen than read. Because of that, the voice Sinan uses matters more than it might seem. You may hear it several times a day, and a voice that's fine for one owner can wear on another.
So we've made it your choice. When Sinan speaks to you, you can now pick one of three voices: Calm, Crisp or Warm.
Where to find it
Open the owner app and go to the Language sheet. That's where you already tell Sinan which language to use with you, and the voice choice is right there too. The setting works in all three languages the owner app speaks: English, French and German.
We put it on the Language sheet on purpose. A voice and a language go together. An owner who listens in French should be able to pick a French voice that suits them, and an owner who listens in German or English should get the same choice. Having both in one place means you set them once and you're done.
Why three, and why these three
We could have offered a long list. We didn't, because a long list is one more thing to sort through in an evening that's already full. Three voices are enough to cover the main differences in taste, and each name tells you what it's for:
- Calm: for owners who want Sinan to sound unhurried, even when there's a lot to get through.
- Crisp: for owners who want it short and to the point, without a lot of padding.
- Warm: for owners who want something friendlier, like a colleague telling you how the day went.
No voice is the right one. The best one is the one you don't mind hearing on a busy Saturday. If you're not sure, try one for a few days and switch if it isn't working for you. Changing it takes a moment on the same sheet.
What this changes, and what it doesn't
This change is about how Sinan sounds to you, the owner, in the owner app. It's one small part of making the app feel like yours. Over the past weeks we've written about Sinan reading your briefing aloud in French and German, and about live voice, where you can keep talking without tapping. Picking a voice belongs to the same work: the more you rely on listening, the more the voice should suit you.
Some things stay exactly as they are:
- What Sinan says doesn't change. The voice changes the sound, not the content. Your numbers, your orders and the things that need you are the same whichever voice you pick.
- What Sinan is allowed to do doesn't change. A friendlier or calmer voice doesn't give Sinan any new powers. Refunds, cancellations and anything else that can't be undone still wait for your tap. Sinan never acts alone on those, and no voice setting changes that.
- This isn't about what your customers hear. This milestone covers the voice Sinan uses with you. We aren't describing a change to how Sinan talks to your customers in your shop's chat, on WhatsApp or on your chat page. That's a separate topic, and we'll write about it when there's something to say.
Why we bothered
A fair question is why a small, bootstrapped team would spend time on a voice setting when there's so much else to build. Our answer is simple: Sinan is meant to work for an owner with a phone. For a lot of owners, a phone is something you listen to as much as something you look at. If the voice grates, you stop listening, and then you miss the one approval that was waiting for you or the order that needed a reply. A voice you're comfortable with is part of making sure the important things actually reach you.
It's also about respect for different ways of working. Some owners want the facts fast and then they're gone. Others start the morning a bit slower and want to hear the day laid out gently. Some just like a friendly tone. We'd rather let you decide than pick one for everyone.
Try it
If you already use Sinan, open the owner app, go to the Language sheet and choose Calm, Crisp or Warm. If you run a small online shop and want to see how Sinan works with you, from answering your customers to waiting for your OK on anything that can't be undone, get in touch with us. We'll show you the owner app, voice included, on a call.
