Receipts are one of those small things that matter more than they seem. A customer asks for one, you send it over, and it needs to look like it came from your shop, not from whatever tool happened to be stitching it together behind the scenes. That part of Sinan just got better.
Order receipts now generate as an actual PDF, built in Sinan's own look, instead of the workaround we were using before. If you've ever sent a receipt and felt it looked a little off, or printed one and watched your printer try to make sense of a webpage, this is for you.
What changed
Before, generating a receipt meant working around the limits of a page that wasn't really built to be printed or saved as a document. It mostly worked, but mostly isn't the bar for something a customer might file away for their own records or hand to an accountant.
Now, when a receipt is generated, it's a proper PDF. That means it opens the same way everywhere, keeps its formatting whether it's viewed on a phone or a desktop, and looks like it belongs to your shop rather than to whatever browser rendered it.
The other half of this fix is just as practical. Printing a receipt used to mean navigating around everything else on the page: menus, buttons, other order details, just to get the one thing you wanted on paper. Now, printing a receipt shows only that order. Nothing else comes along for the ride.
Why it matters
Receipts aren't glamorous, but they're one of the few documents that leave your shop and end up in someone else's hands: a customer's inbox, their records, sometimes their own customer if they're reselling. A receipt that looks clean and consistent is a small but real signal that the business behind it is paying attention.
It also matters for you, the owner. If you're the one printing a receipt for a walk-in customer, or pulling one up to double check an order before refunding it, you don't want to be fighting with your printer or hunting through a cluttered page to find the part you actually need. This was a case where the old approach technically worked, but it asked a little too much of everyone involved: the printer, the page, and the person trying to get a simple document out the door.
- Real PDF output, generated by Sinan, in a consistent look.
- Clean printing: only the order you're printing shows up, not the rest of the page.
This is a small change on its own, but it's part of a pattern we keep coming back to: the parts of running a shop that feel administrative, like receipts, confirmations, order records, deserve the same care as the parts that feel more exciting. A customer doesn't see your dashboard or your automations. They see the email, the chat reply, and sometimes, a receipt. All of it should look like it came from the same place.
If you print receipts regularly, or send them out as PDFs to customers who ask for one, you'll notice the difference right away. If you don't use receipts much, this is the kind of fix you won't think about again, which, for something like a receipt, is exactly the point.
As always, nothing about how receipts are generated changes what Sinan does on its own. Generating and sending a receipt isn't the kind of action that needs your approval. Refunds and cancellations still do, and still wait for your tap.
