When you run a shop on your own, the hard question at the end of the day often isn't "what's left to do?" It's "who is handling what, and is anything stuck because of me?" Sinan organises its work into departments, each with a head and the roles you've taken on. Those roles are AI employees, not people. Until now, though, the place to see all of that was hard to read. On a computer it was empty.
As of October 15, the Business tab shows it properly. Here is what changed and how you might use it.
One row per department
The Business tab now has one row for each department your business needs. Each row tells you three things:
- The department's head. The AI role that leads that part of the work and reports up to Sinan.
- The roles you've hired. Which AI roles are part of that department in your business right now.
- Its state. Whether the department is working, waiting on you or idle.
The state is the part we'd look at first. Working means it has something in hand. Idle means it has nothing to do right now, which is fine and often expected. Waiting on you means it has reached a point where it needs your decision before it can go further. With one row per department, you can scan the list in a few seconds and see where you're needed, without opening every corner of the app.
Open a department to see every role that fits it
Tap a department and you see every role that belongs in it, not only the ones you already have. Each role has a one-line description of what it does and one of three labels:
- Active: the role is part of your business and doing its work.
- Paused: the role is part of your business but stopped for now.
- Can be added: the role fits this department, but you haven't taken it on.
We wanted this page to answer a simple question: "What could this part of my business look like, and what does it look like today?" Seeing the roles you don't have yet, next to the ones you do, makes that easier to judge than a list of only what's switched on.
Adding a role is a proposal, and it waits for your yes
When you tap Can be added on a role, nothing is added straight away. Instead, Sinan proposes that role for your business, and the proposal waits for your yes. You can look at it and decide.
This works the same way as the rest of Sinan. Sinan does the information work, but it never acts alone on decisions that belong to you. A new role in your business is your call, so the tap starts a proposal, not a change. If you change your mind before saying yes, nothing has happened.
The same page on your phone and your computer
Before this change, the Business tab on a computer was an empty page. That was our mistake, and it meant that if you did your shop's admin at a desk in the evening, you had to pick up your phone to see how your departments were doing.
Now the computer shows the same information as the phone: the same rows, the same states, the same roles and labels. Use whichever screen is in front of you.
How we'd use it in a normal week
- Once a day, look for "waiting on you". Those rows are where your decision is the next step.
- Now and then, open a department you rely on. Read the one-line descriptions of the roles marked Can be added and ask whether any of them would take something off your plate.
- Check what's paused. A paused role is easy to forget. The label makes sure you don't.
What this change doesn't do
This change is about seeing your business clearly and asking for a role in one tap. It doesn't change how your roles work, what they're allowed to do or what needs your approval. Anything that can't be undone still waits for you, the same as before.
If something on the Business tab doesn't match what you expected to see, tell us. We'd rather hear it now than have you work around it.
